Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our stock feed products, ordering and delivery.

Hay Stock Feed sells two main corn-based stock feed products: Broken Corn Screenings and Hominy Corn Meal. Both are byproducts of the Kondos Mills corn milling operation in Hay, NSW. They are high-energy, palatable feed options suitable for a wide range of livestock. Visit our Products page for full details.
Broken corn screenings are the small broken pieces and fragments of corn kernels that are separated out during the corn milling process. They are high in energy and starch, making them an excellent and cost-effective stock feed. They can be fed whole or mixed into rations and are readily accepted by all classes of livestock. See our Broken Corn Screenings product page for nutritional information.
Hominy corn meal (also known as hominy meal) is a byproduct of the corn milling process that includes the bran, germ, and softer starchy portions of the corn kernel. It is a fine, meal-like product that is high in energy, contains moderate protein, and has a higher oil content than whole corn. It is highly palatable and commonly used as a supplementary feed or mixed into livestock rations. See our Hominy Corn Meal product page for more details.
Our stock feed products are suitable for all classes of livestock including:
  • Cattle (beef and dairy)
  • Sheep
  • Goats
  • Pigs
  • Horses
  • Poultry

Both broken corn screenings and hominy corn meal are widely used across different farming operations. As with any feed, we recommend introducing new feeds gradually and consulting a nutritionist for specific ration formulations.

Feeding rates vary depending on the animal type, class, condition, and what other feeds are being used in the ration. As a general guide, corn-based feeds typically make up 20–50% of a total mixed ration for cattle and sheep.
